Next Level Trainings 10th Leadership Class Exceeds Fundraising Goal Raising $61,008 in 29 Days For Urban Creators in North Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA. - The 10th leadership class of Next Level Trainings has completed their fundraising efforts in support of Urban Creators’ Life Do Grow farm in North Philadelphia, surpassing their initial goal of $50,000.  The initial goal was reached after only twenty-five days worth of fundraising. In total $61, 008 was raised.

“Next Level Trainings is impressed and inspired by the heart and mission of Urban Creators. We are overjoyed by the efforts of our 10th Leadership Team to raise over $50,000 for this incredible organization that is making such a tangible and beautiful difference in the Philadelphia community,” said Alexa Henderson, owner of Next Level Trainings in Philadelphia.

A check presentation was held yesterday, Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Urban Creators in North Philadelphia. State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta (D-181) was  attendance at this event.

“Urban Creators is an integral part of the North Philadelphia community utilizing grassroots activism and advocacy through celebrating the local rich culture and empowering residents, particularly the local youth, with the tools to build and maintain this community’s vibrancy. Urban Creator’s radical approach to community empowerment is especially needed in the wake of gentrification that systematically disenfranchises generations of residents.  I am proud to join Urban Creators and I am proud to see this donation from Next Level Trainings used to continue its efforts in revitalizing this community,” said State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta.

In addition to fundraising, the leadership group supported Urban Creators on Sunday, August 18th with a Day of Service which included physical labor and general farming. The Day of Service also contained strategy sessions by industry experts with employees and community members which provided financial/budget management; branding and marketing information; graphic design; and business modeling. By empowering the residents with these skills, the community can continue to expand economic development in the neighborhood.

“Next Level here with Urban Creators has really elevated us to another level literally. So many of our young workers have their own businesses and ideas. So raising the money and putting us with so many people like graphic designers, financial advisors and business consultations has really helped us to grow to another level exponentially in such a little bit of time. Now we are prepared to make moves that we would not have been prepared for a year down the timeline. It helped us grow exponentially and the future of the farm is way more secure now.”, said Rob Sonder, Director of Events at Urban Creators.

The Urban Creators, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2010, is a community collaborative rooted in North-Central Philadelphia that fuses food, art, political education, and celebration as tools to build equity, self-determination, and racial & economic justice in their neighborhood. They engage youth as leaders in the transformation of neglected landscapes into urban farms, gardens, and artistic venues for radical inclusivity and self-expression.
