COMMUNITY SERVICE RECAP: VIP 22 - COLUMBUS

A MESSAGE FROM VIP 22 - COLUMBUS

We, The United Ignitors, the 22nd class of Next Level Trainings’ Vision Impact Program (VIP) in Columbus, set forth on a mission to create an impactful community service project. Our decision as a team was to stand in support of families and children battling a cancer diagnosis.

Nellie’s Champions for Kids (NC4K) is a grassroots nonprofit based out of Columbus, Ohio. Our mission is provide support for kids fighting cancer. NC4K is dedicated to supporting pediatric cancer patients and their families living in or receiving treatment in the state of Ohio during one of the most challenging times of their life both financially and emotionally.

With the intention of creating love and support in our community, our team chose to support NC4K and their mission to ensure “No Kid Fights Cancer Alone”. As our team gathered together and the more we learned about this organization, the stronger our vision became. NC4K’s mission and vision became our own. Our commitment to ensure no kid fights cancer alone became the catalyst of our vision.

With a team of only 37 individuals we boldly declared to raise $100,000 in 28 days for NC4K. We reached out to corporations, local businesses, co-workers, family, and friends to support this cause. Our campaign reached far and wide including as far as Colorado, Florida, and even Saudi Arabia. As a team we pushed every day from early morning into the late hours of night. We collected donations until the very last second the community service project ended.

We hosted a Family Fun Day event which included activities that brought family together. Children enjoyed getting their faces painted, jumping in the bounce house, and picking their favorite balloon animal. The festivities included a live DJ spinning tunes the crowd just could not get enough of and we were all fueled by everything from pizza and pulled pork to cherry pie. Many people walked away winners with the amazing silent auction items and fun raffle prizes. On this day our team raised $8,100 for NC4K.

In addition to raising funds for NC4K, our team spent over 3,000 volunteer hours working on this project, sourced many tangible goods, and transformed the NC4K offices to improve the support they are able to provide to the families. The improvements the team provided to NC4K are remarkable and lifts the spirits of everyone at NC4K, the NC4K families, and our team.

We are thrilled with the results and amazed the impact we created in a short period of time. When a team gets together with a clear vision, intentions, and works together the goals we can achieve to positively change the live is breathtaking.

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone who contributed to our campaign and supported us along the way. Thank you to Next Level Trainings’ Leadership, coaches, and graduates, and the many donors from all walks of our lives. We are truly grateful for the lessons we have learned and the connections we created not only within our team but out in the world.
