Charlottesville’s Firefly Hosts Fundraising Event for Youth Action

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA –  Firefly Restaurant and Arcade and Tegan Medico, a member of Next Level Trainings’ VIP 6 - Philadelphia leadership class, put together a fundraising campaign to support Youth Action, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization. Youth Action educates middle and high-school aged students by providing them with training, mentorship, funding, and other resources to lead and serve their communities. Their work supports systematic change to end the cycle of poverty in Philadelphia. The event was held as part of a 31-day fundraising campaign by VIP 6 - Philadelphia, the current leadership class, declaring to raise $100,000 for Youth Action. Firefly Restaurant and Arcade donated 8% of sales made during the evening event.

“I think the beauty here is that we are all connected,” says Medico. “We all have responsibility to each other, no matter where we live.  We all get to lean on each other for a better world.”

Participants in Next Level Trainings are showing support for Youth Action through several events described below with all proceeds going directly to Youth Action:

  • Tangible Goods Drive - items such as school supplies, laser printer and supplies, sound system, gift cards

  • On August 31, 2018 in Philadelphia, PA, students completed an improvement project at one of the schools that Youth Action supports, AddB Anderson School

  • On September 6, 2018 in Washington, DC, students will hold a fundraising event at Irish Channel Restaurant & Pub from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • On September 12, 2018 in Philadelphia, PA, students will host a check presentation ceremony for Youth Action at the Neumann Goretti High School from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
