Next Level Trainings leadership group raises $105,593 in 34 days to fight poverty in Philadelphia Neighborhood

PHILADELPHIA – 31 adults, ranging from 23 to 67 years of age, put together a spontaneous fundraising campaign to support families and individuals in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia. Having only come together one month prior, the 5th leadership class of Next Level Trainings set out to raise $100,000 for local non-profit, Face to Face Germantown, a 501(c)3 human services organization dedicated to the health, well-being, and stability of our community.  Within 33 days, the leadership participants raised over $105,593.

“It has been an honor to have Face to Face Germantown as our community service project beneficiary because we can tell they truly value people’s transformation,” says Gwen Soba, Next Level Trainings leadership student. “You can’t judge a person’s life circumstances. You don’t know their journey.”

In addition to fundraising for Face to Face Germantown participants in Next Level Trainings:

  • collected tangible items such as personal hygiene items, shoes, non-perishable food items, coffee, sweetener, art supplies, coloring books, and other essential items on Face to Face’s wishlist.
  • made improvements to the entrance of the building
  • contributed more than 2,000 volunteer hours
  • held a neighborhood celebration event

“It’s not often I am at a loss for words, but I have to say over these past couple of weeks with every dollar raised; I had the face of a client come into my head,” said Mary Kay Meeks-Hank, Executive Director of Face to Face Germantown. “To say that we are humbled and grateful for what Next Level Trainings has done is an understatement. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!”
