COLUMBUS, Ohio – It is an ambitious, audacious goal: raising $100,000 for a local charity in just a month.
A local leadership group is more than halfway there, and Tuesday night they danced for their cause.
A class of 64 people, as part of a leadership project called "Next Level Trainings," has adopted Kaleidoscope Youth Center.
For one month, they are flooding Kaleidoscope with service projects, supplies, and financial support.
Tuesday's fundraising event was an 80's themed dance party.
"The three words that we decided we wanted to stand for in our group is love, healing and unity," said Cory Dippold, with Next Level Trainings. "And so we were challenged to go out and find an organization in our community that fits those three criteria. And we found Kaleidoscope Youth Center. And we thought it was a perfect fit because of what they do for the LGBTQ community."
"Someone gave me a call from the group, and said, 'In your biggest dreams, what's the best thing that could happen to Kaleidoscope Youth Center?" said Kaleidoscope Executive Director Amy Eldridge. "Then they started talking about wanting to raise $100,000 just within a few weeks, and it was a little hard to believe that a group could do this. But I have never, ever seen anything like this."
The Kaleidoscope Youth Center accepted a check for more than $100,000 Friday.
